George Vanous
George Vanous is an entrepreneur and the father of four daughters. In his family, babies and business are growing together.
Building companies
George builds companies. He founded TGN (The Gaming Network), a network of gaming channels, built it and sold it to BroadbandTV in 2012 (PR Newswire, Dec 3, 2014). On Dec 1, 2013 he launched Freedom!, a YouTube multi-channel network that, according to a press release reported by the South China Morning Post, had more than 177,000 channel partners by October 2016 (South China Morning Post, Oct 13, 2016).
His company today, Freedom! Family Limited, makes the Heartbeat extension for saving moments of YouTube videos, publishes Heartipedia, and runs He.art and Heart Photos. Vi.ki, the video wikis where each key paragraph plays the moment of video that shows it, is the newest of them, and the one he reads most closely: he checks its pages himself.
Why games and video
TGN was a gaming network, and video is what Freedom! is built on. On his YouTube channel he explains how YouTube works for the creators who make the videos Vi.ki is built on, and the YouTube viki cites those videos as his experience.
What "Checked by George Vanous" means
A page George has checked says so beside its last update, with the date of the check. Before he marks it, he:
- tests its figures, dates and names against the sources it links, and fixes or cuts anything they do not say;
- plays its moments, so each one shows what its sentence claims;
- cuts what repeats another section or page, and anything a reader would skip;
- makes sure the opening answers what someone searching for the page wants to know;
- checks that nothing is out of date after the latest patch or announcement.
A page can change after a check, since Vi.ki follows the news every day; its "Last updated" date then follows the check's.
