Editorial policy

This is the standard every page on Vi.ki is held to: how it is written, how a person checks it, how its predictions are marked and settled, and how it is corrected. It is short because the site is young, and changes to it are dated.

How pages are written

How a person checks a page

Vi.ki’s admins work from a check queue in Studio that ranks pages by what readers and Google did with them: the pages people read most, and the ones Google showed and then stopped showing, come first. A check means the person has:

  1. opened the page’s sources and tested the numbers, dates and names against them, fixing or cutting anything a source does not say;
  2. played its moments, so each shows what its sentence claims, at that second;
  3. cut filler and anything that repeats another section or page;
  4. added what only a player knows: a tip, a mistake to avoid, a verdict from playing;
  5. made sure the opening sentence answers what someone searching for the title wants to know;
  6. confirmed nothing is out of date after the latest patch, season or announcement.

A checked page says so beside its last update: “Checked by name on date”, with the name linking to the editor’s profile, and it tells search engines the same in its structured data (the page’s lastReviewed date and reviewedBy person). The check is recorded on the exact revision the person read. If the page is edited afterwards, the check stays with its date and the queue marks the page as changed since, so it comes up to be checked again. A page without the line has not been checked yet; most pages have not, and the queue is worked from the top.

Predictions and opinions

Vi.ki states its own view where the facts allow one: what the next class, map or expansion will be, where a story goes, what a launch will do. Every such sentence is marked as ours (“We think”, “We expect”, “Our prediction”), says what it is reasoned from, and never poses as fact. Each viki’s predictions page gives every prediction a confidence and a date to check it by. When the answer is known, a dated Result line goes under the prediction saying whether it was right, wrong or partly right, with the facts and their sources; the prediction’s own words are never edited afterwards, and a missed call stays on the page as a miss. Predictions by established creators are credited to them and linked at the second they say it, and are settled the same way.

Corrections and suggestions

Anyone can correct a page. Sign in and press Edit on any page: your change becomes a revision that waits for one of the viki’s admins, who publish it or decline it with a note, and your Studio lists what became of each one. An admin’s own edit goes live at once. Every published revision is kept with the name of the person who made it and a note saying what changed, and the page’s History compares any two word by word, so a correction and the text it replaced are both on record. A reader who finds a wrong figure can simply fix it and say in the note which source they checked.

Our own products

Vi.ki is published by Freedom! Family Limited, the company behind Heartbeat (h.ki) and Heartipedia, and the Heartbeat viki documents one of its own products. That viki is held to the same standard as every other: it states what the product’s public pages and videos show, cites them, and publishes no figure about the company that a reader cannot open.
